Lera C An absolute worst portrayal of one of the best stories in history. The director didn’t even come close to appreciating what already exists and shown his absolute disgrace through his narrow perception of history. Farr’s inability to appreciate what’s been created before him led him to absolutely dishonour it.It is sad to see, how he attempted to devalue something so majestic, like the story of Troy. I can’t see him falling lower than this Rated 0.5/5 Stars • Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/20/24 Full Review Casey D The series was ok, and although it strayed a little story wise form Homer's, it was still mostly entertaining. The casting had....interesting choices....given the direct descriptions in Greek mythology being pretty clear. There was no real purpose to the changes, it seems it was done just to do it because the director wanted to. Overall, it was decent, but nothing to get terribly excited about. Rated 2.5/5 Stars • Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/10/24 Full Review Rafael A Helen and Hector shone brightly amidst the distractions of long pauses and an unconventional cast in this series. Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/09/24 Full Review Dan S Ridiculous! I want to cast the actors! I loved this story since learning about it in school. Troy the movie 2004 was good but I did like Helen of Troy 2004 better! I also feel why can't they cast Greek or Italian actors for the film or British or Americans or Canadians that are Greek or Italian ancestry since they both share genetics. I know because my moms side in Southern Italian my grandmother from Sicily that Sicilians are up to 37 percent Southern Italians 30 percent Greek/ Balkan /Anatolian ancestry with dna. It would be nice to see! To be fair yes. Not to have British Germanic or Swedish looking actors or African playing Greeks. I feel Greeks should play Greeks to make it more authentic. I am proud of my roots like an Italian or Greek etc like my dads side mostly Irish and through my dna some English with a twist of Viking. Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Rachel Cooke New Statesman There are several versions of this narrative on which to draw. But if only he had not made it all seem so tediously 21st century. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (2) Tim Elliott Sydney Morning Herald Ultimately, however, it's precisely this over-amped drama that makes Troy such a guilty pleasure. Give yourself an episode or two to acclimatise to the cheesiness, suspend as much disbelief as you can, then let the swords and sandals carry you away. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (3) Euan Ferguson Guardian [David Farr] has given us an intriguing, relatively faithful version of the Iliad. Apr 16, 2019 Full Review Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (4) Christopher Stevens Daily Mail (UK) From the bloody Caesarean birth at the start of the story, to the vivid depiction of ancient sports, this is a respectful, grown-up retelling of the myth. Rated: 4/5 Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Adam Sweeting The Arts Desk Early enthusiasm is liable to fade in the face of the beige-ish characterisations and mundane dialogue with which [David] Farr has littered his stage, while a largely unknown cast lacking big personalities who might dominate the screen doesn't help much. Apr 17, 2019 Full Review Troy: Fall of a City: Season 1 | Rotten Tomatoes (6) David Butcher Radio Times David Farr, best known for adapting John le Carré's The Night Manager, has chiselled this fresh take on one of the oldest stories of all.
