Snowman Bulletin Board

This simple snowman bulletin board is a great way to encourage your students to read this winter! Just look how easy this bullet board is to assemble and put together!

  • Cut a large circle from white butcher paper or bullet board paper.
  • Place the circle in the bottom left-hand corner of the board.
  • Cut 5 smaller circles from black contruction paper for the mouth and arrange in a smile.
  • Cut a carrot nose from orange construction paper.
  • Cut eyes from black construction paper.
  • For the snowflakes, I used cotton balls and pinned to the board.
  • Used pre-purchased letters or print out letters for your caption.
  • Add colorful and fun borders!

For my border, I used a purchased green and white chevron border. The blue border is made from crepe paper streamers purchased from a dollar store. I simply stapled the streamer to the bulletin board, scrunched and stapled. I continued around the entire bulletin board until the border was complete.

Warning! This border does require a lot of staples, but I thought it turned out great!

Mittens Bulletin Board

Here is another great winter-themed reading bulletin board, and once again, this is so simple to make!

  • Simply cut two large mittens from bulletin board paper or fabric. (I used felt.)
  • Cut mitten cuffs from white paper or fabric.
  • Cut or punch out white snowflakes.
  • Use prepurchased letters for the caption.
  • Attach jute to the mittens and create a bow or tie together at the top.
  • For the border, I used plaid ribbon.

Mittens Reading Bulletin Board

This last bulletin board is sure to be the center of attention on your hallway! Your students will love this student-created bulletin board. After reading a book, students create mitten flipbooks and write about their reading. After coloring and assembling the mittens, create this gorgeous and eye-catching bulletin board that everyone is sure to love!

This Winter Flipbooks and Bulletin Board Activity contains flipbooks for both fiction and nonfiction books. It also contains the letters that are ready to print for your bulletin board. You will also find photos and ideas for creating this bulletin board inside the packet.

Students use the flipbooks to respond to and tell about their reading. Students may tell about a fiction book they have read by describing the story elements, tell about the sequence (beginning, middle, and end), or they may write about a non-fiction book by providing important details from the book.

Use these flipbooks with

  • fiction books
  • nonfiction books
  • independent reading
  • lit circles
  • whole group
  • guided reading
  • homework
  • and much more!

Just look at what teachers have said about this packet:

“My students loved completing this project as an independent task during our guided reading rotation time. They were highly engaged and motivated to read!”

“My students loved creating these and they made an adorable bulletin board.”

“My students love doing these for their (mitten) book reports. They are easy to print and prepare for the students. I like the option for fiction and non fiction which allows me to give my students a choice for their book reports. I ended up purchasing more from the seller because of how well it worked for my class.”
