CCPS announces administrative appointments

Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) today announces one new executive level appointment, five new principal/coordinator appointments and eight assistant principal appointments. The appointments take effect July 1 and include appointments at the elementary, middle and high school levels.

The following appointments were approved by the Board of Education May 21.

Executive Appointment

  • Erica Williams as an Executive Director of Schools in the CCPS Office of School Administration and Leadership. Williams is currently principal at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School and will replace current CCPS Executive Director Linda Gill, Ed.D., who has announced she is retiring at the end of the school year.

Principal/Coordinator Appointments

  • Caroline Burke as principal at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School. She is currently an assistant principal at Billingsley Elementary School.
  • Corey Dobbins as principal at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center. He is currently an assistant principal at North Point High School.
  • Courtney Hrobak as principal at Eva Turner Elementary School. She is currently a community schools coordinator with Frederick County Public Schools.
  • Marquelle Peavy as acting principal at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. She is currently an assistant principal at Stoddert.
  • Ashley Valenzuela-Carrington as coordinator of the Early Learning Center, Waldorf. She is currently an assistant principal at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School. The Early Learning Center, Waldorf is set to open August 2024.

Assistant Principal Appointments

  • Tamara Barnes, assistant principal at T.C. Martin Elementary School. She is currently an instructional resource teacher at T.C. Martin Elementary School.
  • LoWanda Buck, assistant principal at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School. She is currently an administrative intern at Mattawoman Middle School.
  • Kristen DeMaranville, assistant principal at La Plata High School. She is currently an administrative intern at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School.
  • Tyler Gerber, assistant principal at North Point High School. He is currently an assistant principal with Anne Arundel County Public Schools.
  • Jasmine Law, assistant principal at Billingsley Elementary School. She is currently a data coach with Prince George’s County Public Schools.
  • Sylvia Royster, assistant principal at Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School. She currently serves as the CCPS director of community engagement and equity.
  • Lauren Stephenson, assistant principal at Arthur Middleton Elementary School. She is currently an assistant principal with Prince William County Public Schools.
  • Natalie Williams-Cole, assistant principal at Maurice J. McDonough High School. She is currently the administrative intern at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center.

Additionally, the following administrative transfers take effect July 1 for the 2024-2025 school year.

Principal Transfers

  • Louis D’Ambrosio moves from principal at the Robert D. Stethem Educational Center to principal at Mt. Hope/Nanjemoy Elementary School.
  • Brian King, Ed.D., moves from principal at C. Paul Barnhart Elementary School to principal at Margaret Jamieson Thornton Elementary School. Thornton opens in August 2025 in White Plains as the 23rd CCPS elementary school.

Assistant Principal Transfers

  • Jennifer Elder moves from assistant principal at T.C. Martin Elementary School to assistant principal at Billingsley Elementary School.
  • Ryan Erickson has been named an assistant principal at North Point High School.
  • Paige Hickman moves from assistant principal at Henry E. Lackey High School to assistant principal at Theodore G. Davis Middle School.
  • Laura Hindsley moves from assistant principal at North Point High School to assistant principal at Westlake High School.
  • Erin Kaple moves from assistant principal at Westlake High School to assistant principal at St. Charles High School.
  • William Skallerup moves from assistant principal at Arthur Middleton Elementary School to assistant principal at Walter J. Mitchell Elementary School.
  • Twanna Taylor moves from assistant principal at Daniel of St. Thomas Jenifer Elementary School to assistant principal at J.P. Ryon Elementary School.
  • Cory Underwood moves from assistant principal at La Plata High School to assistant principal at Henry E. Lackey High School.
